Community Network's Social Inclusion Project Officer, Belay Gessesse, has set up telephone befriending groups for isolated, elderly Ethiopian and Eritrean refugees. These groups provide support to refugees living in the UK by connecting them with other individuals in similar circumstances. The telephone sessions are facilitated and conducted in their native language and offer opportunities to build new social networks for refugees who may feel marginalised or detached from their local community.
