Community Network is shortlisted for an award

Community Network's Refugee Project uses telephone befriending groups to overcome social isolation felt by older Ethiopian and Eritrean refugees living in the UK. The groups provide a valuable social outlet and much-needed peer support to overcome the loneliness and depression that many refugees experience when adapting to life in their adoptive country.

The Bloom Awards presented by Lemos&Crane, producers of the prestigious SupportActionNet Awards and PrisonerActionNet Awards, are for projects in sheltered housing, care homes, extra care settings and floating support that have encouraged hope, freedom, enjoyment, achievement, and a sense of belonging for older people.
