The work of Community Network was discussed at the sixth International Conference on Social Responsibility, held in New Delhi, India.
Colin Coulson-Thomas, Professor of Corporate Transformation and Community Network trustee, highlighted how Community Network facilitates telephone befriending groups for isolated and vulnerable people through the profits generated by its commercial telephone conferencing services.
Professor Coulson-Thomas went on to argue that this type of social entrepreneurship, where provision of a competitive commercial service directly funds projects creating tangible social benefit, is one of the more effective ways of meeting the corporate social responsibility agenda to have emerged in recent years, and is one which is set to grow across a number of sectors in coming years.
Community Network would like to thank Professor Coulson-Thomas for giving us prominence at this high-profile conference, which also heard from Deepak Jolly, vice president for public affairs and communication for the Coca-Cola Corporation in India; and Rajnikant Patel, CEO of the Indian Commodity Exchange.
